How to do classic
December 15, 2022
For the 2024 Fuorisalone edition, D-house opens the doors of its new headquarters on the Navigli and welcomes visitors and industry specialists. The installations created for the partners that inhabit and nurture the urban laboratory narrate, through creativity, the delicate weave of interconnections to be enhanced. Material intersections and technological combinations, marked by sustainability, are synonymous with a futuristic representation of fashion and design. It’s an opportunity to discover extraordinary creations and be enchanted by immersive and multisensory installations.
The project, coordinated by D-house laboratorio urbano, represents a creative experience aimed at redefining the boundaries between fashion and classical art. A moment of exchange where ideas, concepts, and applications translate into products with a theatrical essence, teetering on the edge of "possibility." It features a dominant intertextuality between the past and the future, where technology removes the patina of time and embraces contemporaneity. The versatility of Dinamica©, the innovative microfiber resembling suede made from recycled polyester*, is highlighted in a collection of bags that blend past and future, creating an emotional balance to immerse oneself in. Through this project, Dinamica© expresses its full potential in applications, not only in the high-end automotive sector but also in fashion: the accessories that inhabit wardrobes and accompany daily life take on a new interpretation, becoming a synthesis of its technological potential. On one side, the exhibition leads us to discover plasterworks where, among neoclassical statues, we glimpse the tools used by the artist, showing how human abilities transform the impossible into the possible. Crossing the threshold of the installation, visitors will enter a neutral space, where the bright blue of the columns, echoing neoclassical style, stands out alongside the movement of five music boxes interpreted in a pop key. The bags are displayed on the columns: precious artifacts born from the designer's ability to give a face to a historical movement, Neoclassicism, and to transpose it onto the details of these accessories: from clutches to pouches, through thermoformed buckets, where the classic and modern meet to create a surprising result. The exhibited artifacts were created in collaboration with Dyloan Bond Factory, the production hub of the Pattern Group, and with the contribution of ET s.r.l. The 3D printed elements were produced using the Stratasys printer, one of the partners of the urban laboratory.
This innovative and cutting-edge project serves as an open reflection on our role in the world and its representation. The installation, hosted within the halls of the urban laboratory, invites exploration of the infinite synergies between fashion, design, and creativity. An illusory corridor will guide visitors on this fascinating journey, while natural elements, such as colorful flowers, flying herons, protective whales, and enchanting fantastical elements, convey the value of the here and now. Inspired by the Moryama House, Guardini Ciuffreda Studio questions the traditional concept of home as a place for self-expression and discovery.
Five outfits for five rooms where printed fabrics transform into three-dimensional codes to explore, accompanied by poems to read, thanks to the potential of Kornit technology. The project was coordinated by D-house laboratorio urbano, located in the heart of Milan, while the artifacts on display were created in collaboration with Dyloan Bond Factory, the manufacturing hub of the Pattern Group.
Thermore and Olmetex also contributed to the project with fabric supplies, along with Colombo Industrie Tessili and Maglificio Alto Milanese, which provided various types of fabrics and materials to explore the endless applications of Kornit technology. In the production of some garments, Framis Italia tape was used for laminations and support areas for laser cuts, while Beppetex, a cotton fabric producer, supplied fabrics for the creation of the displayed shirt. Thanks to the partnership between D-house laboratorio urbano and The Woolmark Company, some garments were made using wool from the Tollegno 1900 spinning mill and produced by the knitwear manufacturer Progetto Maglia Firenze.
During the week, various events will be organized to explore and enrich the project's concept.
